The base of Great Temple I on the Great Plaza. The grass surface of the plaza would have been white, polished plaster which would have continued up the stairs and terraces. The stair is flanked by panels that project out from the terraces and probably had some specific significance. The two plain stelae at the base of the stair would have been painted. The other stelae, in front of the North Acropolis, are carved and would have been painted.
