Dissertation: Maya Seats and Maya Seats of Authority. An investigation of artistic, epigraphic, and contextual elements of stone benches, carved with historical records and iconographic images, erected in residential compounds and ceremonial temples during the seventh annd eighth centures by the lalssic Maya of mesoamerica.

Interests: Maya Art, Maya Sociopolitical History, and the History of Maya Art History.

Publications focus on Maya Sociopolitical History and The History of Maya Art History. A recent example: "Dedications of Authority", in Maya Dedication and Termination Records and Rituals, edited by Shirley Mock, University of New Mexico Press, 1999.

Currently Executive Director of FAMSI (Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies, Inc.) a non-profit organization providing approximately $250,000 annually for studies of ancient cultures. Visit their website at www.famsi.org.
